FOREWORD Nursing is a continually evolving discipline with a unique body of knowledge. ADMISSION PROCEDURE and COURSE DETAILS
- Admission is open to candidates from all parts of India.
- Admissions are held once a year in the month of June.

- Duly filled-in application forms should reach the office of the Director, Academics, at the above address on or before the specified date.
- The duration of the course is 4 years. The candidates will be required to sign an undertaking to do the internship for one year on successful completion of the course. They must also give a bond to work in Medwin Hospitals for one year after internship, during which period, an honorarium of stipend per month will be given.
- The medium of instruction in the college is ENGLISH only.
QUALIFICATION CRITERIA
- The minimum educational required is a pass certificate in Intermediate Examination or its equivalent, preferably in science.
- Unmarried/Divorced/widow without encumbrances between the age of 17 and 25 years are eligible. Upper age limit is relaxable by 3 years in the case if SC/ST candidates.
- A certificate of physical fitness from a registered medical practitioner is to be enclosed with the application.
- Good knowledge of English is essential. Students are required to learn Telugu to attain a working knowledge for dealing with the patients during their practical training.
- The completed application form should be submitted along with photostat copies of the following:
a. Intermediate pass certificate or its equivalent.
b. The memorandum of marks obtained in Intermediate or its equivalent examination.
c. Conduct certificate from the Principal of the college last attended.
d. Certificate of any other education qualification.
e. Certificate of physical fitness from a registered medical practitioner.
f. Four copies of recent passport size photographs.
NOTE:- Original certificates should not be sent along with the application form. Receipt of an application form does not imply acceptance of the candidate for admission.
SELECTION CRITERIA
The selection commitee will scrutinize each application. Performance in the Intermediate examination will be the basis for preliminary selection. Provisionally selected candidates will be called for an interview. The date and place of interview wil be intimated to the candidates by post. At the time of interview the candidates are also required to sit for an entrance examination. Criteria for final selection will be based on:
- Marks obtained in the entrance examination.
- Higher qualifications, if any.
- Health status of the candidate.
- Personal interview.
- Guidelines prescribed by N.T.R.University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada.
The fee amount should be paid by the student at the time of admission to the cashier by
crossed "a/c payee" DD, drawn in favour of "Medwin Hospitals, Hyderabad".
COURSE DETAILS
Syllabus and the general course outline will be as prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council & NTR University. Any changes notified by them will be incorporated immediately for compliance. Classroom lectures and clinical instructions will be delivered by experts in different specialised fields.

Note
- Internship means 8 hours of integrated clinical duties in which 2 weeks of evening and night shift duties are included.
- Intership should be carried out 8 hours per day @ 48 hours per week
- Students during internship will be supervised by nursing teachers.
- Fourth year final examination to be held only after completing internship.
PRACTICAL TRAINING
Practical training in Medwin Hospitals during the entire 4 years if study in the college is an integral part of the Bachelor Nursing Course and it is obligatory for each student to maintain a neat record of the nursing procedures in the form of Log notes viz, care of different types of units, cleaning procedures, comfort devices, positions, diagnostic procedures, collection and reporting of samples, diet, enemas - hot & cold application, artificial feeding, community health, bandages and binders, medications, care of babies, etc.
The sisters in-charge in the respective wards will observe the work of the student nurses and guide them to acquire adequate the skill. The schedule of assignment for practical training will be drawn up by the Princiapl, in consultation with the Nursing Superintendent & Director (Academics). The student nurses will be responsible to get the procedures' registers signed by the wards in-charge in due time and submit them periodically for inspection.
EXAMINATION PROCEDURE and CERTIFICATION
At the end of each academic year, there will be a State Board Examination. 25% of marks are alloted for internal assessment. Scheme will be as per N.T.R.University of HEalth Sciences.
There will be three public examinations conducted by N.T.R University. Each examination will be held after completion of 12 months of study and clinical practice.
The College conducts selection examination one month before the common board exams called pre-final exams. Only those who pass in these examinations will be allowed to appear for the common board examinations. The attendance, genral conduct of the student and performance in the clinical area are taken into consideration in the selection examination.

Note
- Anatomy and Physiology - Question paper will consist of Section A Anatomy of 37 marks and B Physiology should be of 38 marks.
- Nutrition and Biochemistry Question paper will consist of Section A Nutrition of 45 marks and Section B of Biochemistry of 30 marks.
- Pharmacology, genetics, pathology. Section A of Pharmacology with 38 marks, Section B of Pathology of 25 and Genetics with 12 marks.
- Nursing Research & Statistics-Nursing Research should be of 50 marks and statistics of 25 marks.
- Minimum pas marks shall be 40 % for English only
- Theory and Practical exams for Introduction to computer to be conducted in college exam and marks to be sent to the University for inclusion in the marks sheet
- Minimum pass marks shall be 50 % in each of the Theory and practical papers separately.
- A candidate must have minimum of 80% attendance (irrespective of the kind of absence) in theory and practical in each subject for appearing for examination
- A candidate must have 100% attendance in each of the practical area before award of degree
- A candidate has to pass in theory and practical exam separately in each of the paper
- If a candidate fails in either theory or practical paper he/she has to re-appear for both the papers (theory and practical)
- Maximum number of attempts permitted for each paper is 3 including first attempt
- A candidate failing in more than two subjects will not be promoted to the next year.
- Candidate shall not be admitted to the subsequent higher examination unles the candidate has passed the previous examination
- The maximum period to complete the course successfully should not exceed 8 years
- Maximum number of candidates for practical examination should not exceed 20 per day
- All practical examinations must be held in the respective clinical areas
- One internal and one external examiners should jointly conduct practial examinations for each student
- An examiner should be a lecturer or above in a collegeof nursing with M.Sc (N) in concerned subject and minimum of 3 years of teaching experience. To be an examiner for nursing foundations course faculty having M.Sc (N) with any speciality shall be considered.
TRAINING PERIOD
The first three months of training will comprise preliminary training, at the end of which there will be an examination. The successful candidates will be given uniforms, the cost of which will be borne by the candidates themselves. The candidates will then continue with their studies. The failed candidates will be given a second chance and if they are still found unfit, they will not be allowed to continue their studies. If a candidate discontinues her studies after the preliminary training period, the fees will be returned to the candidate, except registration, mess and tuition fee for the period.
