His areas of interest are Bronchoscopy, Care of Critically ill patients including Ventilator support and Sleep disoreders. He is a faculty member for the DNB programme (Internal Medicine) at Medwin Hospitals.
He completed his MBBS and Internship from JIPMER, Pondicherry in 1994 in single attempt with First Class marks. He enrolled for MD (Internal Medicine) in first attempt from India's most prestigious training institute, PGIMER, Chandigarh. Thereafter, he was selected for the DM (Pulmonary and Crtical Care Medicine) on merit at PGIMER, Chandigarh.
During the course of his postgraduate training, he had extensive training in central line placement, endotracheal intubation, diagnostic ascitic top and dialysis. He underwent super-specialist training and obtained DM (Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine).
Dr.D.P.Bansal was trained extensively in Bronchoscopies (diagnostic and therapeutic). Bronchial and transbronchial biopsies, Bronchoalveolar lavage, care of critically ill patients including respiratory support, haemadynamic monintoring and parental nutrition in ICU setting. He has been trained in Sleep medicine polysomnography and management of sleep disorders including sleep apnoea syndrome.
He has five years of exhaustive experience in Airway management; non-invasive ventilation (NIPPV, CPAP, BiPAP0 and Ventilator support; initiation, maintanance and weaning during my course of super-specialization and present practice.
Dr.Bansal worked as Consultant Critical Care Medicine & Respiratory diseases at King Abdullah Hospital, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for one year. He was principal coordinator for academic activities of the hospital and transportation of critically ill patients. He designed the antibiotic policy for the ICU. He has been conducting awarness camps in Asthma and Lung Cancer.
Academically, Dr.Bansal had been the Principal Investigator for International Trial of Tigicycline in nosocomial pneumonia (Paris, 2004). He participated as faculty and delegate in courses, conferences, workshops and seminara; Incidence of TB in patients on steroid therapy, (APICON 1998, New Delhi); Mechanical ventilation on GB syndrome (ICCM 2001, Bangalore); Workshop on Bronchoscopy & Sleep lab (NAPCON 2005, Kolkata); APICON (New Delhi, 2001), ICCM (Mumbai 2003). He has published three papers in Indian Journal of Chest Diseases. He is a member of Indian Chest Society, Association of Physician of India and Indain Society of Critical Care Medicine.
